The Metro Manila Dog Association K-9 Corps (MMDA K-9 Corps) is a non-government, non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to fostering disaster-resilient communities and citizens. Its mission encompasses several critical objectives:

  • Cultivating Disaster Resilience: The MMDA K-9 Corps is committed to nurturing communities and individuals capable of effectively managing and mitigating the impact of disasters.
  • K9 Training Dissemination: The organization extends its expertise in Search and Rescue (SAR) K9 training to private individuals and local government units across Metro Manila, promoting readiness and capability in disaster scenarios.
  • Canine Management Awareness: MMDA K-9 Corps advocates for humane and responsive canine management strategies, integral to building disaster resilience.

Comprising entirely of volunteers, MMDA K-9 Corps members devote their time and resources to cultivate self-sufficient SAR teams. These teams consist of canines, handlers, and support personnel, each possessing specialized scent detection skills. Such teams function in collaboration with emergency services during disasters and calamities necessitating search, rescue, and recovery efforts. Moreover, MMDA K-9 Corps is dedicated to mentoring future volunteers, equipping them with the necessary skills to evolve into proficient SAR K9 teams. Through continuous training and development, the organization ensures a steady pipeline of skilled, dedicated volunteers committed to its mission of enhancing disaster resilience in the country.
